Family tree research

We absolutely love to be able to show off our family tree research on one of our beautiful tree designs.

All of our research is meticulous and thorough and takes time, experience and sometimes a little bit of blood, sweat and tears.

We use primary sources in all instances and check, cross-reference, and usually check again to make sure we have things exactly right before we add it to your tree. There’s no guessing if we’re not completely sure. Even with the records available, sometimes we can’t verify them with 100% certainty. After all, a record is only as good and as truthful as it’s informant.

Like lots of people the world over, including just about everyone in the historical research and genealogy industry, we love and rely on services such as Ancestry.com. It’s a great resource that holds records from all over the world that would otherwise be inaccessible (unless we were to hop on a plane/train/automobile). We are able to use these databases and others like it to confirm information and view records, to fill in gaps in trees and make sure we’re giving you the correct ancestors. But there’s lots that can go wrong when it’s not used properly – people copying other people’s unverified trees, attaching records with the same or similar names, who are not the correct people – which perpetuate a myth, mistake or false narrative.

We love what we do and we love completing your family trees and family tree research, that’s why we make sure we take so much time to make sure it’s completely verified and not just “Googled off the internet”. If we can’t verify it, then it doesn’t get a place on the tree and that’s why sometimes you will see an ‘unknown’ or a blank space where an ancestor’s details should be. If the research was that easy, everyone would be doing it!
